Breast Implant Warranties

When you have surgery, you purchase your breast implants through the plastic surgeon.  You will receive, at no additional cost, a lifetime replacement warranty (for the replacement cost of the implant itself) in case of a rupture.   Both Mentor and McGhan also offer financial assistance for a certain time period after your breast augmentation surgery to cover certain additional costs (surgical expenses, etc.).  You may also be able to purchase additional coverage.   Mentor's basic warranty covers BOTH implants when one ruptures - Inamed's does not.   Mentor's Enhanced warranty can be bought for 45 days after surgery and can be registered online.  Inamed is only a 30-day registration and is by mail only.   Click on the links below to learn more about each breast implant warranty.

-Shapes: Round vs. Anatomical (Teardrop/Contoured/Shaped))
-Profile: Low, Moderate, High

Choosing breast implant shape may seem complicated since manufacturers have so many styles in their lineups. However, it’s really only a matter of making two choices. The first choice is the Shape; the second choice is the Profile. Shape refers to the actual shape of the implant, round or anatomical. Profile refers to the distance the implant projects off the chest wall.
